Help Identify Baseball Player

Picked up this cool looking CDV from B&L. Wondering if anyone has any info on player and/or team name?

not sure, there is kind of a resemblance?

I see it

Eyes and the jaw line. This cdv was taken in Maine. Waitt entered the league in 1875. From what I know this cdv is circa 1871 - 1873. So this could be him when he was on his HS or a local town team before the bigs. I am still doing research.

Ears are wrong--not him.

Ears? What picture are you comparing to? Only know portrait is a sketch and I see one ear. Anyways still researching...

How do you know it is a baseball player?

oldjudge 09-25-2013 01:41 PM

That's easy--it's a baseball player because it's worth more as a baseball player

jimthorpe 09-25-2013 02:01 PM

Makes sense...

Got it verified/confirmed :) Feel free to pm me for the identity.

Leon and Scott

I do not think Leon and Scott would false advertise their auctions so I assumed this was a ball player even before IDing him.

This really does not belong in the BST section............

Phil-you know what they say about those who assume. Firemen wore bibs just like this during this period. There is nothing in the photo that indicates to me that this is or is not a baseball player. Even if he is, the odds of identifying him are pretty remote.
