Is the New England National worth attending?
The New England National is in Wilmington, MA from 11/1 -11/3. Has anyone ever attended their shows in the past? Is it worth driving 5 hours to spend 2 days there?
|
thinking about attending as well; 4-5 hour drive for me

It's the biggest & best show left in NE area anymore. Always worth the trip--plenty of top dealers & lots of vintage. All grading companies are present also. Even Mr Mint usually makes it!:)

It is worth attending. Quite a few museums set up, but also a lot of realistic dealers who will work with you on price...

I'm only 20 minutes away, but would recommend it for anyone wanting a solid show with plenty of vintage. Heck, Nelson made the 9-10 hour drive from Quebec and thought it was well worth it last time!
Like Steve said, plenty of overpriced museums but also the closest thing in the Northeast to a National! |
Not what it used to be, still decent. About one third is new shiny crap (is this the norm elsewhere?). The fall show is much better compared to the spring (almost ghost town show). The author's of the book The Cracker Jack Collection will be there. And autograph guests including Clemens and Pedro. Some decent deals but many over-priced cards a la ebay. And the big auction houses are usually set up with material from upcoming auctions. As well as the major grading companies.

What hotels are in the area?

Clemens, Rose, Paul Molitor, Rickey Henderson, Pedro Martinez...not bad for the autograph list. Wonder how much they're charging

Here are the signers and costs. YIKES on some of them - Clemens is $200 for a flat, Pedro is $129 - crazy prices seem to be the norm on these!! |
