Story behind Ripken hat

The hat was given to me by a friend whose son received it from Cal Ripken Jr at an event he was working as a police officer. The hat has been worn and I was told it was worn By Cal Ripken Jr and taken off and signed and given to friends son. I have no way of proving that part, Cal Ripken Jr served as grand Marshall at a 2001 MBNA Cal Ripken Jr 400
