1964 Topps Baseball Empty Box

Hello all. An acquaintance of mine has am empty 1964 Topps Baseball 5cent wax box that I am looking to purchase. We are in the process of negotiating a price. I have tried to research a possible value for this thing, but have had no luck. It's in decent shape with no rip, tears, or stains that I have noticed. Just general wear for the age. The lid is broken on the perforation, having been displayed for sale of the packs. There are two additional creases on the side legs of the lid just up from the manufacturers marks to bend the lid for displaying. The box does not have the ad for the coins on the front. Has anyone had any experience with a box from this year? And does anyone have an idea of a good buying price range? Thanks in advance for any info.

63 Topps Box

If this can help. I bought a 1963 Topps 5 cent empty box in pretty nice shape for a $100. It has pictures of Mantle, Koufax and Killebrew. Don't know what a 64 box looks like.. Does it have any stars on the box? I would say between $50 and $75.

Has no specific stars on box. Just the topps logo with baseball in big green letters and a generic behind shot of a batter, ump and catcher. Thanks for the reply!

Tony,

If you got a '63 box in nice shape for $100, it sounds like you got a great deal. IMO, I think that box is worth $150-$200.

I value the '64 box a little less - say $100-$125.

I used to own several empty vintage wax and vending boxes, but it's been a few years. Hopefully my estimate isn't too far off.

I have a 2002 guide from a dealer Mark Murphy. I don't know if he's still around. He used to sell unopended packs and boxes in all sports. From his guide, an empty box for a 1964 topps 1 cent box was $600.00. For a 1964 empty 5,10,15 cent box was $150.00. Hope this helps.

It does. Great info everyone. Gives me a better of idea of where I need to be on it. Thanks again to all!

David's estimate is right on the money.
