Baseball get together in Vancouver this Saturday
 

For those in the Pacific NW

We'll have the annual Vancouver SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) meeting, with guest speakers and the usual pre-game get together at Max Weder and Jennifer Ettinger's.

Time: Saturday August 17 at 1 pm. Nat Bailey Stadium, in the BBQ area on the first base side. The meeting will last until about 3 or 330. After that, we'll have a post meeting pizza and beer at our place just down the road (pm or email for address)

HOF announcer Jim Robson will be one of the speakers, talking about his time announcing baseball http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Robson (Hockey talk will be banned!)

We're still hopeful ex-Vancouver Mountie and current baseball scout Wayne Norton can make it back for Europe to also talk

As always, members and non-members alike are invited, with no admission charge. All that is required is an interest in baseball. Please feel free to invite others. If you're not a member of SABR, please visit their website at http://www.sabr.org/

Please feel free to come to the meeting, the pizza get-together or both. There is a C's game that night with fireworks, and the game is sold out. If you're looking for tickets, I may be able to help. But most importantly, get there early, for our Len Corben will be inducted into the Vancouver Canadians baseball media hall of fame. Ceremony starts at 630, so be there to see Len honoured.
