Perfect N172 Images
On another thread ("someone wrote on my Matty"), Wonkaticket showed an image of his N172 Delahanty with an unbelievably sharp image. (Great card!) Why is it that so few N172s have such a sharp image? Did they all start out sharp and somehow deteriorate over time? Or did Goodwin do a poor job of developing most of its photos?

Mostly the first, but some images were not the best to start with. For some reason some players are usually found with sharp images. This argues against fading over time and indicates that some cards started off better than others.

My intuition tells me that some OJ's were developed better than other ones. The dark OJ's like John's incredible Delahanty card are sort of like the pink diamonds of OJ's. Very beautiful and quite difficult to find. That doesn't mean that the other OJ's aren't interesting to behold - just that there is something special about these OJ's produced with a dark image.

blurry image is an example of a card suffering from Goodwin's poor photo development processing at production. not a stretch that other images were faded at inception.
