Baltimore's Babe Statue
2 Attachment(s)
As promised, if I saw anything that might interest you guys, I would pass it on. I noticed this piece in an antiques shop in New Jersey. I hit a lot of antiques shops in my travels and had never seen one of these before. (I know it's not "antique" but the shops I frequent usually have this kind of stuff)
For all I know, they are a dime a dozen, but a quick look on the internet found only one that sole in 2001 for about $350.00, so I'm thinking they might not be that common. I found none on eBay. The one I found is #8 of 2000. In any case, here is the description from the 2001 auction: "An impressive 12" tall bronzed ceramic statue that depicts the young Babe Ruth in his 1914 International League Baltimore Orioles uniform, with the League's 1914 emblem on the left sleeve. The statue was offered (in a Limited Edition of 2,000) to mark Susan Luery's nine-foot, 800 pound bronze statue that stands proudly at the entrance to Baltimore's Camden Yards." If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I will forward the shops contact info and an additional photo I took in the shop. They will ship, and they told me they would sell it for $360.00. I have no other info or financial interest in the sale. Just trying to be helpful... Regards, Doug |
