1954 Topps Willie Mays #244
 

Everyone,

I recently have been going through my collectible cards and found this card. I am not sure if it is a fake or real. How can I tell if this is just a really good fake? I don't remember where I got the card. I just surprised me.

Take a loupe to the print. The picture should be somewhat pixelated while all print and borders should be solid. If you post a picture we should be able to help.

Here is a scan of the front and back.

1953 Topps looks ok to me.

The socks, sleeve and hat are black in your scan. Every other one I've seen has blue socks, sleeve and hat. Although it could just be the color of your scan, I'm going to say fake.

Does the topps and 244 on the ball on the back of card look strange to anyone else too? Almost 3D looking like it was photo shopped on later.

Is it me or does the cardboard on back look modern?

It looks like there is a crease on the right side about half way down running to the middle of the card. If it is a photo copy of a real card you will not be able to feel the crease. Let use know if you can feel the crease

The 1991 Topps Archives 1953 Mays card has the black sleeves also.
