Would like opinions on Hank Aaron ball
2 Attachment(s)
I just picked up this Hank Aaron autographed ball and would like opinions if it is an authentic signature. I appreciate your help.
|
I think it is good.
I have him signed in person at card show and "Hal" is just like mine. |
It looks like a score board holder. You can ask Ken.
|
Is Scoreboard still working with Hank? That signature looks recent. Not stating a fact Shelly more asking your thoughts.
|
His recent signature looks terrible and labored. Wish it still looked this good.

William White Ball
Yes the ball is a William White. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the clarification Mr. Zipper, Duluth, Bender. I am trying hard to pick up my skills in autos.

he emailed me
sorry, not monitoring boards this week, been a little distracted! its good, circa 1991 score board looks like he signed about 900 balls for JC Penneys prior to that one (the big customer back then), but looks like him. |

Hank just signed these two baseballs for my boys this past Saturday in Milwaukee - so this would be his most recent looking autograph.

I used to watch Aaron play at County Stadium when the Braves were still in Milwaukee. Spahn and Mathews dead and Aaron on the downward side. Tough to see.

Agree with all...that signature on the ball is definitely not recent. His signature these days is large and shaky.
|
That ball is exactly like mine that I ordered from JC Penny in the early 90's with a scoreboard cert. I actually bought two of them then (one for me and my brother) but still have one of them. They were both signed off center on the sweet spot like that as well.

sorry for the pic, it was taken years ago with crappy camera...
The other one that my brother had was even more off centered of sweet spot. |
Does anybody still have the catalog from JC Penny with all of the items they sold? Were they all authentic? I have purchased a few items over the years that I was told were purchased from them so would like to see them listed to verify...
|
All items in the JC penny catalog in the 1990-1993 era were authentic and all items were provided by score board inc and the signatures were provided to score board directly from each athlete by contract and signed in front of score board personnel. The prices at the time were. Great because Pete rose was getting 10 per auto, Nolan like 10-12 and retail prices in the catalog were 39-49 per ball.
Problem of course is that unscrupulous criminals at a later date counterfeited ( and still are doing so) score board certs which puts in question the legitimate autographs purchased from programs like Jc penny due to the market uncertainty created by the fake autographs and fake certs that have been flooding the industry out of florida. |
