In Honor Of Bruce Post The Toughest Card on Your Wantlist

Post the toughest card you found or one that you are still looking for.

Still can't find one:

1912 Claude Berry Zeenut

I have been looking to finish my run of catchers in the 1912 set but his card rarely shows up unless in a large lot. 1912 Zeenuts have all but dried up.

While I have waited probably 6-7 years for this card, I have picked up both a canceled and unpunched Berry Home Run Kisses cards and a Berry Obak Cabinet.

The search continues....

Howe’s Hunter 08-06-2013 08:04 AM

Doesn't exist

Green background Cobb portrait T206 with Howe's stamp on the back in a high three-figure price (the most I would ever be able to convince the wife that a baseball card is worth). There are two out there, but not in the three-figures.

Never had any dealings with Bruce(s), but did find his battles here entertaining if not intriguing. RIP.

RIP Bruce.
I miss his posts, by far the most entertaining net54 member ever.
From what I have heard he had a museum quality collection. Any idea if it will go to some sort of museum for viewing?

Gary,

I was reading the 1991 Sotheby's Copeland catalog the other day, and according to their write-up, only one example exists of the Ruth and Gehrig.

I don't follow that set, but I'm not sure if others have surfaced since then.

Best of luck in your search.

I would like a Type 1 E-107 of Nap Lajoie, but I don't think that will happen. I will settle for a really nice Type 2.

Tony

N172 Kid Madden, leaning on rock pose. I've only seen one for sale, at the 2003 National and I regret passing it up for the dumbest reason. There was one a few years back in a huge lot in some major auction, other than that, nothing in the ten years since the day I passed it up. I have a Player's League card I'll trade for one....anyone? :)

Thanks, Tony. A few more of the #4 Ruth and Gehrig have surfaced since then, and I have a copy of both. However, according to oldcardboard, there should be a #2 Ruth that also exists in a slightly different pose, and there should at least be one known but without the tab at the bottom.

If i had to pick one single card, I think I would say an e92 Nadja Cobb...if it actually does exist and I could somehow afford it. In general though I would say any other non-St. Louis e92 Nadja or any w554 with one of the red printed backs.

Either an N172 Frank Hankinson (to complete my NJ subset) or an N172 Taylor Shafer (to make up for a blockhead move I made years ago that I will likely never live down).

Bruce, Goodwin had a Chance Plowboy tobacco on display at his table at the National. Set for his upcoming auction.

Mine would be a T214 Victory Johnny Evers.
