International Newsreel Photo question

Wondering if anyone knew anything about the international newsreel company? I found a babe ruth photo that has their stamp on the back and was wondering if theyre known for producing original vintage images?

Joey,
You really need to pick up a copy of A PORTRAIT OF BASEBALL PHOTOGRAPHY somewhere if you're going to continue pursuing baseball photos. Whatever it costs you on the front end, one thorough read through it will save you much more in post-purchase heartache.

If you pick up a copy of the book, the handiest feature IMHO is a company-by-company, year-by-year breakdown of the stamping styles they used, which you can usually use to narrow down when a news photo was produced to a range of a few years at most.

To answer your question, yes, International Newsreel was an imprint used by International News for their photos from 1922-1928 (and to a lesser degree by their Chicago bureau as late as the early 1930's). Anything with that stamp would be "vintage." Whether "original" (1st generation, of the period, Type 1, etc) would depend on several factors, and is impossible to say for sure without seeing the front and back of the photo.

I just needed to know about the back stamp because im looking at buying a photo and it has that stamp on the back but couldnt seem to find any specific info on the international newsreel company.

Found one just like this one (different pose) that was taken the same day and the owner of that one dates it in 1925
