Question regarding Brooklyn Dodgers 1955 World Series

Steve Wolf is building an amazing Model of Ebbets Field from 1955. He is a fanatic when it comes to the little details and wants to put the time on the scoreboard when game 5 ended.

It was the last game played at Ebbets field in 1955 as the two remaining world series games were played at Yankee stadium.

It was a Sunday afternoon game and the game was played in 2:40.

Would anyone know the starting or ending time of the game, or perhaps have a picture of the scoreboard after the game?

Any help would be most appreciated.

thanks!

one additional question:

Can anyone confirm that there would have been world series bunting hanging on the upper deck railings.

thanks in advance!

Michael,

During the '55 Series, Ebbets was definitely adorned with bunting. I can send you photos from Game 5 if you'd like. It's important to note that their bunting placement differed a bit from that used at Yankee Stadium in the 50s, as Brooklyn would have their flags spread out throughout the ballpark with usually around 5-10 feet between each one.

I'm trying to find out when Game 5 started exactly, though I would imagine that it was around 1:05 or so, as most World Series games of the era started around them. I also found a boxscore from the NY Times, and they list the time of the game at 2 hours and 57 minutes.

Wolf is incredible - a man after my own heart. I'm definitely excited to see the finished product!

Guys, thanks so much for the information. I would love some pictures of the ballpark and can forward them to Steve. The model has been in the making for 1.5 years and will be offered in the REA auction coming up this fall.

Steve has sent me pictures, he has captured the charm of the ball park.

Thanks!

I've got the original radio broadcast of the game, if that might be anything useful to you:

Michael, PM me your email address when you get a chance and I'll get those photos out to you.

Regarding the time, personally I would side with the NY Times. That's mainly because it was printed the day after the game and all. But of course, they can be wrong! I'll try and dig up some more info.
