bob
i just checked on your sets
and i happened to notice my 68 3-d mel stottlemyre is a 9...which would upgrade your only 8:D:D:D
but to your credit you have a 9.14 compared to my 8.86

That Stottlemyre 8 haunts me daily, but not nearly as much as my lack of an April Bole card (until today.....YAY).

Congrats once again, Bob (on the April pickup as well!)! For whatever reason, I never realized the scope and breadth of your collection until recently. This must be a testament to your modesty, because your collection is amazing.

april bole

Congratulations Bob!

Much deserved. If they only truly understood how tough some of those cards were!! Great job. Enjoy the spotlight. Thanks again for all your wonderful contributions to this board.:)

April Bole

....little April had eluded Bob, a lot of others, for quite awhile.

Larry...you need to start on that set soon :-)

savedfrommyspokes 07-22-2013 01:34 PM

Al,
Have you finished the set...15 cards, correct? Any scans?

HasselhoffsCheeseburger 07-22-2013 01:53 PM

Bob's knowledge and collection are only surpassed by his generosity. A well deserved honor.

Since I know that Al has only just started this beast, here are scans of all of the '71 Winners not named April:

bob
if you were a real collector...you would track down all 15 kids who are now in their 50s and get the cards autographed...now that would be impressive:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

1971 Winners

Bob--I hearby request that Larry agree to be your agent in this quest. He is a good guy , an extraordinary collector , and the exposure to 1971 will be good for him

Awesome set Bob and congrats on finishing it....I saw the April Bole ending yesterday....I suppose the days of picking one of these 15 cards up for about $10 each at the Natl maybe over(as a previous net54 thread mentions). Good luck on the autos!

MBMiller25 07-25-2013 05:51 AM

Congrats

Congrats to you Bob, you have always been incredibly kind to me and taught me about being a real collector in this hobby. I will never forget when you just packed up a Ryan and Seaver RC for me to review prior to purchasing. I was amazed that you would do something like that, but you should know its left a lasting impression on me.

Congrats again on an amazing achievement. Your sets are just beautiful to look at it.

Congratulations. I have read about you didn't know you came on here.
We all know how hard it is to put a collection together, I am so impressed :)

Congrats Bob.

Mostly for finding "April", to which your collection ranks a close second.

A distant second actually. She arrived the other day (my life is complete).
