eTopps will undo history with the upcoming release of cards featuring players who, for one reason or another, didn't appear on cards during a certain place and time.
eTopps has gone back in history and created a classic collection of "cards that never were", scheduled to be released August 6. The collection will include: 1952 Topps Joe DiMaggio 1952 Topps Ted Williams 1952 Topps Whitey Ford 1954 Topps Stan Musial 1967 Topps Nolan Ryan 1982 Topps Ryne Sandberg Williams and Musial both had exclusives with Bowman in the early 50's and as a result did not have Topps cards. Ford left baseball to serve his country in the Korean War; as a result never had a '52 Topps card. Ryan broke into the Big Leagues in '66 with the Mets, but it wasn't until '68 that he appeared on a rookie card. All cards will be sequentially numbered and delivered on eTopps technology. Several of the cards are slated for autographs. http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com...-ted-williams/ |

Bowman/Topps competition for players in the eraly 50s......
....is why 60 or more or more of the folks in the Topps 52 set are managers, coaches and people who never really played much if at all at the MLB level.

Williams was also flying jets for the Marine Corps in Korea from '52 to '53. Wonder if Whitey was peeling spuds in a messhall?
