1954 Topps Jackie Robinson...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=141018816648
I'm guessing people are bidding because this is the ultra-rare version with the white border on the top... |
Looks fake to me.

Absolutely. I messaged the seller; we'll see what he says.
|
That's pretty funny right there...I love the garbled summary and the random "Sports Illustrated"...what? BUT...hey, it is "his loss your gain"...sheesh.
I am just surprised he didn't just cut off the picture to hide the white top border...and further surprised that at this point 13 idiots have bid on it... |
Me: "This card is not an authentic 1954 Robinson."
Seller: "This is a sports illustrated Jackie Robinson insert in the very first magazine is cut out of the sheet which is placed in that magazine it is very rare and very cool and it's in very good condition I hope that helps you thank you Jack" Me: "Then more to the point, the description/title is misleading." Seller: "It wasn't meant to be misleading. I'll try to adjust it. There just wasn't enough room to fit all the information In the title block, thank you Jack." |
It look's like it is straight from the 1994 Topps Archives 1954 Set.

I had never seen a 54 SI card sold singly with a white border on the top before, however, in the ebay listing below for the full version of the magazine, there is an image of the foldout the showing. On this foldout, the Mays card has been removed and the Jim Rivera card is left with a top border. Could it be the seller of the Robinson card has this card with the top border because it was not trimmed/cut off at the time of removal?
