Hi all, thanks for this great sight. As a kid I used to play Superstar Baseball board game and loved all the old guys and reading their amazing stats. I love the t206 cards and just started collecting them and started by buying 4 HOF psa graded cards. Not sure what angle I will collect from. I just know I want more! Thanks in advance for all your expertise as I begin this journey. My first question; Is it common to stay with one graded company or to collect from all third parties? Thanks.

Hey buddy, from the second newest to the absolute newest....welcome! I like SGC and even cross my PSA graded cards (at least the one's that I'm never planning to flip) over to them because I prefer their holders and the way they display. Plus they've been very consistent and their customer service is fantastic. I may be (in fact probably am) in the minority, but I'm a little OCD and that's my preference

Welcome to the forum, Lgarza99.

It's not uncommon to collect graded cards from all three major tpgs, especially if you collect both modern as well as vintage. The majority of my baseball card collection to date have been modern Bowman Chrome prospect auto cards, and when I get them graded, I always go with Beckett. For my vintage cards, the graded ones I have are slabbed by PSA. Once I begin my vintage and pre-war collection in earnest (after I'm out of the hospital, and caught up on my medical bills), I'll be getting heavily into SGC. I love the way cards look in their slabs, and I'm sold on their customer service. Plus, I think they are the most consistently accurate in their assessment.

Welcome to the forums! Good luck with the journey -- those little T cards can be addictive!

And if I were building some type of graded T206 set, I'd have no problem mixing PSA with SGC.

Nice to make your acquaintance.

Buy the CARD you think is best, regardless of the holder, and you will never go wrong. We are collecting cards after all and not plastic slabs and labels ;)

That said for PreWar especially I prefer SGC. I like the aesthetics of the holder and its comparative safety.

Welcome.....

I do not get my cards graded but have picked up numerous graded cards along the way. I don't have a strong preference for 1 grading company over other for pre-war, and have cracked a number of cards out.

Have fun and enjoy the ride!

Welcome, I prefer SGC for all of the reasons listed above.

Thank you all for your insight. I do think collecting the card for best eye appeal is the way to go for me at this stage. It sounds like this is an ever evolving journey though, but one I'm already enjoying. I wish it could just go faster. :)
