BOWMAN's
September 1949....first day of school, and my 4th grade classmates and I are in the school yard waiting for the doors to open. On our way to school, we hit our
local candy store and bought out all the Red-White-Blue BOWMAN packs. Much to our excitement, we got the new Hi # series cards. And, one kid yells out....... "Satchel Paige, I got a Satchel Paige card". Believe me, to a bunch of 10-year old kids who were avid BaseBall fans, that was a Big, Big deal in 1949. http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...ge49bthree.jpg Opening up 1953 BOWMAN 5-cent packs and getting these beautiful photographic cards of your favorite BB players....it doesn't get any better than this. And, trust me the BOWMAN bubble gum was the best. http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntlesnider.jpg Ahh, such fond memories that last forever.....and, so do these cards. TED Z |
