Intro (belated)
It just occurred to me that (even though I've posted two threads) I hadn't properly introduced myself.
I'm an artist / designer living in the San Francisco Bay Area... die-hard Giants fan... and a fan of baseball and the cards that document the game. I collect for the beauty of the cards, mainly, so I don't get hung up on the condition of the card too much. (the odd mark or worn corner adds to the charm)... I consider the Turkey Reds, T205, T206, T207, 33 & 34 Goudey, 41 Playball, 50-52 Bowman & 52-56 Topps to be the most beautifully designed sets. (Hardly surprising, but I'm always discovering something I hadn't seen before) I just bought my VERY FIRST T206 card today... the stunning Mike Powers catcher card from a fellow board member (thanks Frank B.!) and a couple of t207 NY Giants cards... I create a lot of baseball art... I'll post an example... and I hope to do a lot more... Thanks for letting me part of this pretty amazing community! Cheers! http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...ball-Bloom.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...gMigration.jpg |

try collecting a regular/common T206...I think you'll love them.. have you painted any T206 cards?????????????? or subjects?????????? Welcome my friend Peace Johnny V |
New Yorker submissions...
Thanks again!... More artwork below...
As a matter of fact, I'm currently working on a project to create a couple of paintings based on early card sets... T206 among them... that would feature some unusual subjects. (sounds a bit cryptic, I know... I'm working out the details, and I'll be happy to share once I get out of the sketch phase.) Here's a couple more, I can share: Both were originally New Yorker cover submissions (I've done work for them in the past), hence the logo on the sketches, and I'm currently turning both into a painting... These are the digital sketch versions... Kind of finished pieces on their own... but I wanted to recreate on canvas... http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...-Baseball5.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...all-catch2.jpg |
