Baseball 1911 Book
Didn't even know that this book--a modern reprint of history published in 1911 with much on that season--existed until today when I saw in store window. Naturally ordered it from home later. Should include one vintage card, at least Spike Shannon, huh? Surely others here have read. Views?

Greg, do you mean The National Game by Spink?

ironically enough I own that one too. I usually stay away from new baseball stuff but when it comes to old books, I like to own a modern copy so I can read it without ruining an old book.
I read sections of this one often. I also own the Sol white book, Mike Kelly, Spink..... For a relatively small price you can read firsthand accounts of baseball history, etc. Peter |
Omg!
Wow! I had no idea someone reprinted this book. I had an original copy which my 1st dog decided to use a chew toy (ouch!). Man, if they did it right , you will LOVE this book. The photos are awesome. Joe Jackson is, if I remember correctly, shown in the New Orleans Pelicans team photo. I may just have to order a copy for myself as I don't think I could afford an original any more. It was a rather large size book, tall but not very thick.
I would love to see your review of it after you get it. Maybe some interior scans to see how well they did the inside too. |

Great book, saw an original in an auction years ago. Doumecheles (spelling)in Detroit. I bought a Ty cobb letter at the same auction.
Pretty scarce. Joe |
I've had it for a few months now and it is amazing!! Never even touch my original any more, I just go to this! It is VERY WELL DONE!!!

That is one of the great books of the era, and I didn't know that it's been reissued. It has one of the best photos of Joe Jackson you will ever see!
