1949 Bowman uncut scrap sheet

Great cards, Leon and Ted. I always thought 49 Bowman was underrated. I was able to get this scrap sheet the other day in Huggins and Scott

^^^ wow. That's pretty amazing, RC.

It's funny, for me, the printing issues on the back add to their charm.

Very nice 1st Series sheet.

Here's my 3rd Series sheet......missing several ink passes to create the Green, Orange, and Yellow pastel colors on 17 cards.

Thanks for posting those guys. It looks like Bowman had some missteps along the production line. Really cool stuff!!

I know you asked for '49's but I was really feeling left out so here's some of my '51 overprints with blank backs

Hi Ted. Those '49 Bowman scraps are amazing! Are they all yours?

I tried sending this as a PM but it said your mail box was full. But I was also wondering if you have ever considered selling the Campy and, if so, how much would you need for it? I'm a Campy collector and would love to add a unique piece like that to my collection.

Thanks in advance!

1949 Bowman's

Chris

Yes....these cards, and many more are part of my collection. Including Campy....sorry, this card is not for sale or trade.

Wish you luck in finding a 49B Campy with a SLATE background. These cards are out there. I've seen 2 (or 4) more.

Ted, always like seeing your Bowman ephemera, the 49 set seems quite prone to weird printing problems, maybe that's why they switched printers to Zabel?

I only have this oddity:

Hi Dave

You are correct.

In a conversation I had with Howard Moll in 1981, he said that the George Moll Advertising Agency (who produced the PLAY BALL's and BOWMAN's) switched to Zabel Bros.
printing firm (circa late 1949) in order to improve the quality of their Sports and Non-Sports cards.

Hey Leon

I have the same Dick Fowler that you have....very interesting, since you seldom see duplicates of these types of printer's scrap.
