No "Tricky Hit" T206's!
Why are there no T206's showing a player and the "Tricky Hit"?
After all, by 1909, it had been almost 50 years since Dickey Piece first squared around to bunt. Conflicting reports mention that McGraw, Jennings and Rube Foster were the players to bring it into play. With the recent thread on aesthetics it appears that ALC employed not only a few artists but a small army to do the artwork. It is telling by the cards whereas some are very creative while others are quite bland. I am interested to see old artwork from that era in regards to the tricky hit. Craig |
The 1916 Herpolsheimer card of Cobb shows him bunting. Photo though. Someone on here has one. Dave.

I don't collect the set, so no pic available, but the T3 Keeler is him bunting. There were some crossover images used between that set and the t206's, so it can be considered a cousin I believe. Not exactly sure how baseball card family trees work

1913 Leard Zeenut is a bunting pose.
Can't post pic because my computer crashed and I can only post from my iPad. Check out Leon's Zeenut run post for a pic. |

Nice one Frank, I love it:)
I wonder if he also did a tap-dance while waiting for the ball to arrive? It's been fun researching the tricky hit from when it was first seen and to where it is today. |
I always thought of the Solly Hofman to be a bunting pose...

JD...thanks.
That's what I'm talking about, why are there no poses like that on T206's? Craig |
The E96 Fred Clarke shows him bunting.

Almost...
there is one T206 card showing an image of a player involved in a bunting play. Anyone know which card? |

Steve, I don't understand your post.
The card that I am referring to is a T206 and I can actually prove that it's part of a bunting play. I'm sure someone will figure this out now that they know it exists. |

Your post seems to imply that Solly is incorrect. Ergo my edit to NM (never mind). |

Hint - the evidence of the one I'm hinting about is on my website. |
I must be blind. I did see that Hofman post, and I agree that it looks like he is bunting. Not sure the other one I'm hinting at is any more definitive than that.

Some day I've got to monetize that place and join the big boys. |
