How Could This Be?? - Mathewson Book???
 

So I spotted a Sixth American Checker Tourney book on eBay.

And it is gold embossed "Christy Mathewson, Vice President" on the cover and it is dated 1914. The issue I find is that this is a book that is from 1924, and copy written in 1925, so how could iy have a gold stamp of 1914 on it??? :eek:

Anyone have any thoughts???

The shot of the spine makes it look like it was re-bound. Perhaps it isn't even the original cover.

A very interesting piece but the embossing looks new.
