ISO 1944 Bob Katz Baseball Card
I am searching for anything related to Bob Katz's baseball career. He played for the Cincinatti Reds in 1944 and played for the minors also. This is my father in laws dad. The day they buried his father, their house burned down and they lost all of his father's baseball memorabilia. So anything I can find for my father in law for fathers day would be a blessing.

I moved this from the BST area to help a new member find a copy of a relatives card. Good luck Jennifers....and welcome to the forum.

Bob Katz had a card in this 1978 "Reading Remembers" set. It is probably his only card. This seller on Ebay has a single listed for $5 on his website. Try contacting him. Good luck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-Reading...item53f87d975e

Thanks for helping, Randy. Since Bob only played one year, 1944 (during the war) I am sure his cards will be almost non-existent. The one you brought up here very well might be his only card. Here is a short blurb on his stats for our original poster to see... http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...katzbo01.shtml . |

http://www.baseball-reference.com/mi...d=katz--001rob I agree that the "Reading Remembers" card is likely his only one, and it is pretty amazing he has even this one considering he only played a partial year for Reading in his 1935 rookie season. There is a Brace Photo of him as a Cincinnati player that should be findable somewhere. He probably is in some team photos of his various minor league teams although finding one will take some hunting. I searched eBay for one and there are none currently listed. The only program for one of his teams is a 1946 Montreal ROYALS vs Syracuse CHIEFS BB Scorebook listed for $350. That's a lot of money for a program that probably only has his name listed on the roster and maybe a short bio (haven't seen one, don't know). Jackie Robinson is on Montreal's roster so it's interesting that Bob Katz may have pitched to him. |
