Reprint DiMaggio Pennant
There was discussion about reprinted pennants recently and I wanted to show another version that doesn't come around that often, but is a good example of a reprint that would fool most non seasoned pennant collectors. I actually have this pennant in my collection, but it is signed by DiMaggio. I don't know who made it, but it would fool most. For those interested, check it out as it already has $85 worth of bids on Ebay.

Here is another for a 1955 Dodgers that was made in the 80's. This one is pretty obvious, but people are still bidding on it.

Are there actually 'old' versions of that DiMaggio pennant and this one is a modern reproduction? Or is it just a later pennant (70's-80's) and not necessarily a "reprint"?
It doesn't have the look of the modern repro's you see all the time, or the stiff felt 80's-90's made examples, à la the Brooklyn pennant you linked. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. This one would of definitely fool me. |
I have not seen this exact version of a period DiMaggio pennant. Most of the ones you see have more graphic painting, etc. Basically they look much better than this. My wording of "reprint" is not correct. I am not sure when this was made, but I believe late 80's to early 90's. Not sure though. My "signed" version may not be authentic because of this dating as I never really liked the signature, just got it with some others. It is a soft pliable synthetic fiber much like the M&N pennants, but much more simple.
