Hello, can someone tell me when serial numbered baseball cards first appeared? What year and what cards brands? Tom

The 1st serial numbered cards I remember
 

Came in the 1990 Upper Deck product with the Reggie Jackon insert iwhich a few were autographed.

That is what my memory says, I don't remember any series numbereing before 1990.
