Satchel Paige signed bat
Gotcha disclaimer: I was watching 'Hardcore Pawn' last night. It appeared to be totally scripted with horrible actors - perhaps they just handed a script to people in the audience?
A bad actor walked up with a framed Ty Cobb letter with two signatures, a framed colorized photo of Johnson and Cobb with a Johnson signature dated 1933, and this Satchel Paige signed bat, signed in red ink. He wanted $5,000 and I think he finally got $3,300 from the pawn shop. It appeared that the pawn shop employee simply looked at the stuff and decided in his expert mind, on a price.
Did anyone else see this? Do they actually have an expert check stuff out first, then edit out that part? If real, is the price right? I would have guessed $5-10K on the Paige bat.
(sorry for the crappy pic - the Johnson looked almost too good, but nothing obviously bad, they didn't give a close look at the Cobb letter, but it was green ink and probably real).
edited to add: $3,300 was for all three items.
