O/T: What happens in Vegas...
 

Dear Board Members:

I will be in Las Vegas, on business, from Wednesday, May 1st through Sunday, May 5th. While there, I would like to take in a few sights; however, really have no interest in casinos and houses of ill repute.

Does anyone on this board know of a decent card shop in Vegas? I am staying at the Bellagio and would like to know if there are any places where I can feed my cardboard monkey while spending a few days away from my wife.

Ultimate Memorablia downtown on Fremont

When I was in Las Vegas, there were nice men on the street handing out free cards. :D:D:D

Honestly Eric, there isn't very much in the way of vintage cards here, but if you're into autographed sports memorabilia, you'll find a plethora of that on the strip, mostly at the Forum Shops at Caesars or the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood. I wish we had a decent card shop here that specializes in vintage. If it's your first time here or you have any ?'s send me a PM ;)

And sometimes you'll even find some "vintage" cards amongst the ladies they're handing out ;)

I will be there on business and staying at the Aria the same timeframe as you. Doubt I'll travel with cards but we can meet up and discuss them over a beer.

The place in Miracle Mile has fake autos so I'd pass on that shop.
Pete Rose used to sit in front of the place in Forum shops and sign
for a fee but that is hit and miss I would think. Overall, the casino
scene has very generic offerings for sports fans. If you have a car,
I'd suggest taking a drive a few miles off-strip and visiting some of
the great local bars that are dedicated to transplanted and visiting
sports fans. This list is the best out there as far as which bars are
devoted to which cities and their sports teams. Just click a helmet.

I'm originally from Cleveland and the Tap House on West Charleston
is a Browns bar which has the best Italian night every Monday. Old
school wise guy types come out to socialize and listen to the best of
the local talent entertain for free. They have great food too. When
people come to visit I often take them here and it never disappoints.

Last year when in Vegas I visited Legacy Sportscards...it is off the strip on Sahara (about 2-3 miles west). The owner was knowledgeable and nice. They had some vintage and I ended up picking up a few nice cards from them. They did have a massive amount of zee-nuts that they bought from the pawn stars guys. The prices were fair and they seemed to work with you.

That is about it for vintage in Vegas (which used to have some great card shops but most are gone now).

Another plug for these guys in Fremont, just off the strip. Great guys and a huge selection of Post-War, not so much Pre-War although I'll be honest and say I really don't look. Their initial prices are so-so, but they work with you whether you try and deal or not, and I have always been really pleased with my dealings. I am in Vegas about once or twice a month for work and always stop by. Very much worth the visit.
