1952 Topps Rack Packs
I have often wondered about the source of those Topps Christmas Rack Packs I see on eBay. *I came across this video and thought I would share it.

Xmas Pack
He mentions 52 to 62. When Murphy fist started selling them he also had 63s. He may have more info but I have never seen a definitive answer as to when the first such packs were made ( he mentions 1963), who made them, and where they were retailed and by whom. I think there is little doubt someone (s) is still making more on an ongoing basis , but I would like to know more about the "original" repackaged packs that first hit the market, which generally seem to have cards in better shape than the newer versions
The guy says he has kids. I hope neither they or their friends see the other video. And he better hope Child Protective Services does not see it either |
Wow... I didn't watch all of them. I edited my original post to avoid offending anyone. I apologize if I did. I also sent a message to YouTube.

Something about the vid and this fellow rubs me the wrong way...he vacillates between (feigning) ignorance...asking if Serena is a high number, to others which he has no trouble discerning. I get the feeling there is more going on here than is being let on.

I've always thought those packs were "black market" and not something associated with Topps whatsoever. Nobody knows for sure when they were assembled. It's tough to judge from the video, but many of those '52s appear to have skinny borders. I wonder if the larger, early issues of Topps cards were cut down to fit into these rack packs (seems like that would be a lot of work, though).

Okay, so I didn't bother to check his other videos until just now....
I amend what I said. This guy doesn't just give me bad vibes, he's FUBAR. |
After setting up or attending thousands of shows from 1969 through 1996 and
never seeing one, a friend showed me a BB-KID ad in the late 90s/early 2000 and that was the 1st time i saw them, since other people have copied them and now are the best or fastest selling form of vintage card packs in the country. |
If you care to see photos it appears the gentleman in the video has a few of his Racks displayed on this site.

There is an ebay seller, wynnian, that sells early 50's xmas rack packs including 52's. If you look at this about me page he claims to have a Mathews on the back of one. His feedback on them makes them appear pretty legit.

It does seem like he's legit...it's just too bad he outed himself on youtube as a freak.

I made the mistake at looking at the first list of his other videos. Now I'm wishing I hadn't. WTF? |

Jez, first I was watching his dumb rack pack video thinking "what kind of moron makes these things?" then I looked at the list of his other videos and got my answer.
