Yes I received it also.

yeah, I take it that it's a way for whoever owns the site to see if anyone has cards he/she is interested in buying

Unless board members opted out of getting the emails ALL board members got it. I do appreciate folks understanding that the emails we (I) send, like this, help support the Net54 Dinner at the National and the upkeep of the board. If you opted out of them, no worries, but I do appreciate the folks that put up with them :). Thanks very much for helping in a small way. Also, all of the emails that get sent will have to do with our hobby and NO information is given out or sold otherwise. Much appreciated and see ya'll at the Net54 Dinner at the National...

Not even close.

a creative ploy to lure people into revealing the contents of their collections to a praying auction house...atleast it's not stealing!!!

I'm not going to use it, but my friend, Ahab, seemed very enthusiastic when I forwarded him the email.

I'm not trying to badmouth the site but I was tryjng to figure out what the purpose of it is?
Is it so I can show people what cards I want?

A Baseball Card Social Network

All,

Thanks for asking about the site and its purpose. I am the sole owner of the site. I'm actually a long-time baseball card collector and a part-time entrepreneur.

The site is not associated with any auction house nor is it a means to show off cards I have for sale.

The goal of the site is to create a Baseball Card Social Network that lets people in the community showcase cards they own and also advertise for cards they want to buy. If any of you use LinkedIn, you know how great the site has been at connecting business people via resumes. Or if you use FaceBook, you know how nice it is to connect with friends. The goal of WhiteWhaleCards.com is to connect collectors by letting them share their collections and wantlists. This sharing may be done anonymously.

I hope you try it out and maybe win the T206 Ty Cobb in the process.

-Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan

One thing I am noticing having just tried it out is it seems like a lot of effort to upload my cards. Do you have to find the card first everytime? It seems like there should be an upload button ready to go once I click on my collection. Of course I may be doing something wrong too
I like the idea of this site and will be happy to p[ut my cards on it not only to help a board member out with his site but also to win a Cobb :)

Sean - This is a great suggestion. I will add this to our short-term feature enhancement list. I'll try to get this feature added before the contest ends so that it's easier to add cards. After all, you want the best possible chance of winning the Cobb :)
