Vladimir Guerrero on Long Island Ducks
Vladimir has signed to play with the LI Ducks of the Independent League. I bought some tickets last night for a a game a couple weeks from now, hoping to see him play. I think it should be pretty cool to watch a great hitter like him in a small local setting. I guess he just wants to still play, I guess maybe hoping to get signed by an MLB club.
This guy is one of the most talented hitters I ever watched. I seen him play a couple time when he came to Yankee Stadium. He can hit a ball anywhere in or out of the strike zone. Certainly not a selective hitter. He was such an explosive player back in the day, I think he may still be able to be a bench bat/DH/ pinch hit type in the A.L. Was curious to hear some other people's thoughts on Vlad, the Ducks, and his chance of being picked up by an MLB squad?..... |
Didn't the Ducks also sign Dontrelle?
|
They have had a few other stars play for them in past. I think Ricky Henderson played for them.

Yeah they did sign Dontrelle. I actually went to and just got back from their first and I think only spring training game at home. It was free to the public to go. Unfortunately Vladimir wasn't there, I learned he was still in the Domincan with family. I got to see Dontrelle and get an autograph while he was in the bullpen before the game. I don't think he pitched at all, but didn't stay the whole game. Ian Snell, Ramon Castro and a couple other players were there that had brief MLB stints.

the mets should of signed Vlad

I wish the Yankees had years ago instead of Gary Sheffield. I think Vlad would have even been cheaper at the time maybe. I would have loved to have seen Vlad in pinstripes!
