Listing 1915 CJ's as 1914's

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roger-Bresna...p2047675.l2557

I noticed a couple weeks ago this guy had listed a number of 1915 CJ's as 1914. I sent a brief note saying just FYI, these are the more common 1915's, not 1914's.

He finally responded today with.."These are 1914 not 1915, the words on the back are not upside down when you turn the card over. Thanks for the concern though.
Gary
"

Say what?

I get it that an individual enthusiast / collector may have been told one thing and believe it and/or otherwise not be aware - - but this guy should know better as he appears to have his own shop and claims "Our Store offers over 10 million Sports Cards. We also have an extensive collection of memorabilia. If there is anything you need don't hesitate to e-mail, message or call (765)547-1321"

So he knowingly is trying to misrepresent?

Just a heads-up on seller "ballparkheros1"

Update

To be fair - after several back and forth emails, he says he sees the difference now in the 1914s and 1915s and says he was not aware, truly believed his were the previous issue.

Hi, Ed,

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's the scan, but that Bresnahan in the ebay auction pictured above looks to have some of the characteristics of a reprint, like a darker black name caption and whiter boarders that do not blend into the jersey.

Scan

I noticed that as well .. although do you (or anyone else) notice a difference in color and texture in the 1915s vs. the 1914s in general..? I don't collect the 1915s but have noticed, on occasion, a slight difference in color and image clarity. Whether scan quality or imagination plays in - not sure? :)

The first 3 are 1915. Second 2 are 1914. Of the 5 pictured here I think the 4th shown, 1st 1914, has the least jersey/border blend. When buying raw from scans, I always choose the ones that have the most seamless blend between the border and the jersey to be sure. I also follow the 1914's much closer than the 1915's, but I would guess the print differences could be the result of more printing from the same plates on the cards that appear in 1914 and 1915. Also, the 1915's that were available by mail order instead of in the caramel box would definitely look cleaner.

the bres is a reprint

That Bres is part of a group of reprints I've seen floating around for a while. The seller wasn't lying, the back isn't upside down on the reprints despite the back containing text from the 1915 series. It's a 1915 reprint with a right-side up back.

I posted about a week ago about this seller and another. They're definitely fakes. I reported, but nothing happened.
