Just woke up and saw that this auction opened up. Unbelievable material including huge # of Cabinets, Cobb Garter, signed Gehrig/Ruth cards, Old Judge, high grade T206.

Dear Lord! And I never seem to have money when this stuff becomes available! Ugh!

sycks22 04-09-2013 06:03 AM

Two '15 CJ Jackson's in a 7 and 9, wow.

AMBST95 04-09-2013 06:07 AM

This auction is pretty ridiculous

markf31 04-09-2013 06:14 AM

And in 11 days, the REA catalogs ship out too don't forget! Between REA and this Heritage auction, how do you keep your head from spinning!

Agreed and an understatement

T206Collector 04-09-2013 06:26 AM

And a nice signed T206 Marquard portrait that I have never seen before. Where has this stuff been hiding!?

Shoele$$ 04-09-2013 07:26 AM

Nice stuff, too bad the two E90 Jackson's they have don't interest me in the least. But this auction is full of incredible items.

Sean 04-09-2013 07:35 AM

And a T206 Donlin fielding- PSA 8.5.

Bored5000 04-09-2013 07:53 AM

I am sure even the beat up version in this auction will sell well above my price range, but there is also a ticket stub from Wilt's 100-point game at Hershey, Pa. I have only ever seen a handful of Wilt 100 tickets up for auction.

the 'stache 04-09-2013 07:56 AM

/looks for a nice T206 Cobb bat off shoulder.

I need to find a way to get at some of my 401k. :D I'd much rather put a few thousand in a nice baseball card. Then no fund manager could further screw up my portfolio.

That makes sense, since I believe that only a handful of people were actually in attendance that night. :D:D

Holy God

Yeah, Sean, I saw that. I wonder how high it will go.

I'm like a kid in a candy store right now.

Iron Horse 04-09-2013 08:17 AM

This is true. :D I have seen interviews with Wilt in which he talked about thousands of people coming up to him in the decades since that game and telling him they were there. Some people even went so far as to tell him they were there for that game and it occurred at Madison Square Garden or the Philadelphia Sports Arena.

I know such a ticket will sell way above my price range, but that would be such a cool item becuase I live an hour from Hershey, Pa. The town itself has a historical sign commemorating the game. Both the old Hersheypark Arena and the adjacent Giant Center where the minor league Hershey Bears now play their games have signs/plaques in the arena talking about "On this spot in 1962..."

the 'stache 04-09-2013 08:25 AM

Look at that '54 Topps Aaron.

SGC 84. That thing's just beautiful.

Jlighter 04-09-2013 09:35 AM

Wonder how much this will go for?

I originally thought that Boston Garter Cobb was a great card. Never even seen one of those before. However, after reading the description, in a way, it's almost a "zombie" card with all of the alterations and restorations that have been done on that card. The card is not even holdered so I don't know if either PSA or SGC would holder the card given the amount of restorations that have gone in.

dstudeba 04-09-2013 03:30 PM

Granted, not the ideal state of preservation one hopes for but in reality, we are one year shy of a full century since this card graced the window of a men's clothier and is only the second 1914 Boston Garter Ty Cobb known!

Not true.

Heritage

They even have this one for our friends over at the net54 Non-Sports Cards board...

Lots of nice cards in the auction. I may need to buy one of those green plastic visors to wear while bidding.
