FS: 1961-62 Auto'd Chi. Stadium Review
The Chicago Stadium Review was the program that was sold at Hawks games prior to the big NHL magazine that replaced it in the 70s (if memory serves). This one is from the season after the Hawks won the Stanly Cup. The autographs on it were all signed after a game against the Montreal Canadiens that season. They include on the front cover: Ken Wharram, Jerry Melnyk (d.2001), Ab McDonald, Wayne Hillman (d.1990), Claude Provost (d.1984) J.C. Trembley (pencil d. 1994), Tom Johnson (d.2007)
The back cover has the signatures of Bobby Hull, Bronco Horvath (pencil) and Elmer Vasco (pencil d.1998). Anyone who collects hockey knows that Provost, Hillman, Trembley, and increasingly, Vasco, are tough autographs. Interestingly, Hull's signature hasn't changed in all these years, Vasco did not use "Moose" in his autograph, and Billy "Red" Hay who is pictured b&w on the cover did not sign. If you buy this and trust USPS and CanadaPost, you can still add Hay, Stan Mikita, Wayne Hicks, Eric Nesterenko, Chico Maki, Ron Murphy, Al Arbour, Pierre Pilotte, Dollard St. Laurant, Glenn Hall, Dennis DeJordy and Roy Edwards from the Cup-winning team. (Edwards didn't play a single second for the Hawks all season or on the playoffs, but has his name on the Cup as the third string goalie.) I'm asking for $150 but am open to trades for some football cards or autographs I need. Email me at rnovak14@wi.rr.com. If you buy it, you pay P&H which depends in USPS services desired. |
