Should a card's grade drop on a reholder service?

I bought this card on eBay a few weeks ago and the case was cracked. I knew it before I bought it, as the seller described it in the listing and I also saw it in the scan. I sent it in to SGC with my last submission to request a reholder service. How could the card drop half a grade? I could understand if the card was damaged from the crack, but that's not the case - otherwise it would have dropped more than half a grade.

I know, I know. It's not pre-war, but the era of the card shouldn't matter. The question is, should a card's grade drop on a reholder service? I think not! I've seen a lot of quality issues with SGC lately that makes me question if I will continue to use their service anymore.

The first scan is from the seller's eBay auction. The second scan is how the card came back to me. Notice the certification numbers are the same.

IMO, if you simply submitted for a new holder to replace the cracked one - no. You didn't request a review. Maybe they thought you were asking for a review.

It has the same serial number and is therefore a 'reholder.' He grade should not have dropped. I would call SGC about this.

Should not drop unless the card inside was damaged.

Call them and explain. They should give you a free grading or two.

that's what you get with grading, how can they tell an 82 from an 84? its ridiculous, grading is a scam from day one.

its way too subjective.

Really depends if the card was damaged inside, in any case SGC should have at least told you why. I would call for sure, Im sure they will take care of you.

I agree. Call SGC and ask for an explanation at the very least.
