1986 seems like a long time ago especially for a lifelong Met fan like myself.I went to every opening day minus 2 from 1981 to 2010 and will be there again this year

Certainly looks to be pretty bleak, but I always find that my favorite seasons are the ones where not much is expected and the young guys overperform. Looks like that's our only hope this year! Might be a little fun to watch the young pitchers (Harvey, Niese, and Wheeler will hopefully be our core for years), but I think we might be trotting out the worst opening day outfield in team history.

EK, since my team sucks so bad that we are virtually guaranteed last place, I'm going for the 'nostalgia' thing, but with a post-1960's twist:

This year, let's see the Mets and Astros each get worst record in their prospective leagues :)

lol scot, your team is the astros, thats tuff. I think the mets should finish over florida / or miami what ever their name is now.

Wasn't it great? I was in an airport between flights during that super-long extra inning game. Very tough to see the Astros lose when they were so set up pitching-wise to go all the way.

Well, karma got me - after posting this I picked up a 'Seattle Times' and it had a full-page article on how bad the Astros are. They predict Houston to have the worst record in the ML's for the 3rd consecutive year.

The great thing about it is that our goal for the year is simple: don't finish dead last in the major leagues.
