Articles written by: Ernie Harwell, Lionel Carter, Frank Nagy and others. In an article "A letter from Ty Cobb", Cobb encourages the old-timers committee to elect Sam Crawford into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also complained that Frank Baker was given the title "Home Run" for hitting 12 homers in 1913 even though Crawford hit 16 in 1901. Cobb mentions that rookies today (1955) have it made with an abundance of help. In his day rookies were elbowed out and once found his bats sawed in half. Fifteen pages. |
