cap anson auto
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adrian-Cap-A...item2c6ccb8bec i had seen this and considering buying this but i would like to know if its real?

According to Ron Keurajian's reference book that signature is a common secretarial. The signature of Anson on many of those City Clerk documents is secretarial.
btw - that book is an excellent reference for rare and common signatures and should be in every baseball autograph collectors library. |
thanks i will search out this book

I agree with Richard on the above , have attached an authentic Anson ALS for comparision. All or almost all originated from the same source Anson's grandaughter. I know because I was aware of them and tracking them down , But Bill Mastro found her first and bought them all.
I was about three months too late. DARN ! That would have been around 20 years ago. Most of the letters and documents were signed by Anson but there were secretarial signatures in the group. Common knowledge at the time and from what I can recall they were sold as "secretarials" Over the course of time however some of them surfaced as authentic Anson signatures as evidenced by the listing referenced in the begining of this thread. ______________________ E-Mail or PM me direct to subscribe to my Autograph e-mail update jim@stinsonsports.com |
Id love to read that book and own it as a reference for when I get rich and famous, but its pricey. anyone got a dog eared copy for a good price?;)

Two things to notice:
1. The seller admits in the description that the signature at the bottom of the letter isn't Anson's, but there is another on the back that might be? 2. This is the same seller that has the Delanhanty auto up for sale, which I do not believe to be genuine. Discussed in this thread: http://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=164246 Just sayin |
