Me, the odd collector

I have been on here for awhile and never introduced myself, I'm deric. It's funny how I started to collect baseball cards. I never really got into the sport of baseball, I was an 80's kid that followed Jordan and the bulls until the mid 90's. Never collected cards at all. I had got married in gatlinburg at 20, baby on the way, and was forced to do some shopping at the mall where a card show was going on. I had no clue what I was looking at and I saw these little cards, different from the rest and sparked my interest. The guy talked to me for about 30 minutes about t206 cards. I was hooked, walked out with a Russ ford. It consumed me, for the next year I researched and bought what little amount of cards I could. I changed jobs and my new boss was very big into collecting football cards. He took me to chicago national, I only had 150 to spend. Walked out of there with 15 cards. It was funny they had a Wagner psa 2 for an auction and this very hot woman in a reffery uniform helpin out as eye candy to attract people to their booth. People were taking pictures with the cards and would be on their site. I was on there with my arm around the girl. It was funny. Anyways got devorced some time later and had to sell off my cards. Sold them on here, about 50, all but the ford. I couldn't remember my sign in name back then, but I also sold a 1909 pirates photo, one were there on a ship pushing McGraw off the plank. Kick myself in but for selling that. It's funny I only have interest in t206, anyways, I'm back into collecting, hope it goes better this time

Deric, I'm glad you kept the Ford. I sold off all my cards at 19, and the only one I kept was a beat up '48 Bowman Pete Reiser. Pistol Pete was famous for running into walls, and I was impressed by that. I still have the card, more than 30 years later, as well as a collection I never imagined I could have assembled ...

Yeah that's one I'll always keep. I've built up my collection, what little I've achieve twice. This time I'm sticking to it, not selling just buying
