questions about t206 hustler blank fronts on ebay

Hello everyone. I'm new here on this forum, but I have a question for all you seasoned t206 collectors out there. Earlier today I noticed that there were two auction listing on ebay for blank front?? Hustler cards?? I recently started my attempt in collecting t206s. Mostly southern leaguers, but I've never seen a hustler. I was able to find an article reguarding the possibility of a hustler t206. I messaged the seller and she sent me some really nice scans. Is these cards woth getting excited over?? or should I just pass?? I suppose I just though I might have found a diamond in the ruff. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all again.

No 206's with hustler backs.

I'm not even sure what this is. But obviously fake.

Looks like this guy is trying to "hustle" you.

Hustler tobacco brand never put a baseball player card but they did put out other cards. In the early days of the hobby it was thought, by all of the pioneers including Burdick, that Hustler put out a baseball card. They were mistaking. (as far as we know today). Here is a checklist from Hobby Pioneer Walt Corson. Notice the T206 brands....This index card is circa 1955....

The ones on Ebay also appear to be backs skinned off of one of the nonsports sets. The blank side just looks too rough to be the smooth coated stock most of the sets use.

After looking online at a couple graded examples of blank backs I agree with steve, obvious skinned. Just thought it was an amazing find.. guess if its to good to be true it probably is. Thanks for the help. Another reason why I joined this forum.

Most likely read Net54baseball or some old Hobby periodicals that had them listed as such. We know a bit more today than they did 50 yrs ago. From my reading Burdick always thought Hustler was a type of T206 back.

the ebay listing-not what a hobby pioneer may have thought

Well, sort of. Here is what the listing said, and if I cross out a few words it IS what the pioneers thought.

"T206 BLANK FRONT HUSTLER TOBACCO CARDS"

.

this listing has nothing to do with what a hobby pioneer thought. It is using t206 to try and make some coin

The listing is clearly a FLAG card.

if you take out a few words ad a double print or triple print you can make it say whatever you want it to.

I understand that, Jim. I agree. My whole, and only, point was that that is where the "Hustler" T206 urban legend started, with our pioneers, that is all. Of course the auction person was trying to take advantage of that, imo.
