Philly Show in six days ???
Wow it snuck up on me .....Anyone get their dollar-off-admission postcard yet ?? I usually get it two weeks before the event .
|
It's usually waiting in my mailbox when I get home from the show.

Show
I was wondering the same thing too? No $1 off admission post card yet. Don't seem to be advertised to well? At least I haven't seen anything advertised about the show?
|
I probably live a bit outside their advertising area, but drive through Philly weekly. Advertising for this show is usually not that stron. Although not as many as the last show, I did hear a couple spots on WIP last week. I think having a banner on this site or psa's site or beckett's would certainly help.

I was just wondering where the flyer/postcard is as well. Still going Friday after work, either way.
|
Never got the postcard, either. Nonetheless, I will be there on Friday.
|
I'll be there, same place as last time (booth 308). Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I hope this show does well. I don't know what more you could ask for. A card show. You have the casino in the same building and a Wegmans ( Gourmet Grocery Store about 2 miles away ) What red blooded American couldn't enjoy a great day?
|
Wegmans
Awesome grocery store there are actually 2 within about 10 minutes of the show and no matter how much I beg they won't put one in Berks county.

Philly Show
Is it worth going on the Fri aftn/early eve ?... Would like to make sure almost all the dealers are there at that hour
Anybody know for sure ? RalG |
I'll be there Saturday morning.
|
Anyone have details about the show. Is most auction houses there, is there a lot of memorabilia?
|
It used to be one of the best shows outside of the National. It has significantly lost its luster, but still it is worth going to for vintage cards & memorabilia. A lot (if not all) of the auction houses set up. Also all 3 grading companies have a booth there, too.

I only bought two cards, but consigned some to Huggins and Scott and spoke to Goodwin about a few other cards that I will likely consign. Unfortunately Bill wasn't there today. |
Anyone saw a goudey lajoie for sale by a dealer at this show ?

I got to hold Gehrigs game used bat from 1929.
|
Went to the show earlier today, the grading companies were quite busy all day and traffic in the aisles was pretty brisk. SGC has started a new autograph authentication service and Dwight Gooden was at their table for a couple of hours to meet collectors (no autographs allowed though).
|
I was at the show earlier today (11-2). The show was pretty light and the dealers I talked to were a little disappointed. I bought one card from Goodwin and brought some stuff in to PSA for them to grade. I thought there was a good vintage selection, better than last show. My budget is a little tight or I may have bought a few others. The signers were terrible today, so the attendance was poor. Tomorrow it's Ric Flair and Ray Rice. Whoooooo!
|
eh
was there. t206 population sucked...nothing in the mid grades that i needed....
seen plenty of ungraded cards for sale by guys that do not know how to properly price a card. im talking waaaaay off. second time going. not sure its really worth it to try to hunt at that show. kevin |
Was down Friday afternoon
I made some nice purchases but they were all 1950-1960s cards. I don't think I picked up anything prewar. Going back this, Sunday, morning. So maybe i wil fair better on the prewar pick ups.
|
I was at the show all day Friday. The crowd semed slightly less than at the December show, although there were huge crowds at dealer tables that had the the shiny stuff. The grading companies had a steady crowd throughout.
Some of the auction houses were there. It was a real pleasure, as usual, talking to Al Crisafulli of Love of the Game Auctions, who had a fantastic display of vintage cards. I just wish I had stuff that was "auction worthy" to consign to him. |

It was worth it just for this card alone:)

Sunday
Picked up a couple of t5 commons and 3 bf2 pennants on Sunday. Along with a few more 1950-69 topps cards.
