70 Topps red glove
2 Attachment(s)
In going through some 70 Topps cards I noticed this #499 Skip Lockwood card and he is sporting a red glove. A closer look at the print dots on this card and the area of the red glove has the same print dot pattern as the rest of the image on the card. So it appears this red glove is from the factory and not the work of a post factory artist.
Has anyone else noticed this red glove on this card before? |
Red Glove
Had not seen before. Good one. Interesting print defect

Just overinked, or a dry spot on the plate that time around. It's a nice example.

It is interesting that the red color was so neatly colored around some of the seams on the back of the glove, and the red is all contained within the glove portion of the image(but not all parts of it). Not sure why Topps would have taken the time to do this, but the red color does not appear to be a random print anomaly, but appears to be some sort of intentional change to the image.

The red also overinked the bit of O on the uniform and a little bit in the L. If you compare it to a normal one you'll probably see the blue, flesh and dirt areas have a darker color than usual. Look closely enough and you'll see the red dots are probably a bit larger than normal. Steve B Steve B |
