Anybody out there win this one?

Rare postcard of Thorpe in great condition = strong price. My underbid was left far behind!

I've only seen a handful of these. This one looked pretty good, and I put a late bid in but got blown out.

Wow, I was talking about this very postcard with another Thorpe collector in the Love of the Game auction thread on here. I also put in a snipe for the postcard, but I was way out of my league. Just an awesome piece. I wonder if the seller (a postcard business) really knew what he had, scarcity wise.

Perhaps the winner was the guy in the link. This is one of the most amazing individual player collections I have ever seen, although much of it is modern stuff. Even more amazing is the post in which he says there are a couple of other Thorpe collectors with deeper pockets that even he can't complete with.

Still not even close to the price of the Baker postcard in LOTG

I was the underbidder. I'm still a little shocked my snipe wasn't enough. Congrats to the winner.

I hadn't seen that particular pose before. Thorpe ephemera is cool. If anyone has an extra National Gazette large premium of him, at a decent price, I think I could find a good home for it.

PSA has graded one of that Thorpe postcard. I believe the same is also true for SGC. From what I could find while doing research on the postcard, I could only ever find three copies that have sold at the various auction houses. There was an "excellent" copy that sold for $900 before the BP, an "authentic" (trimmed) copy that sold for $450 before the BP and a mangled raw copy that sold in a lot with a Thorpe photo for $3XX.

Here's another one with Thorpe, Tewanima, and Warner on the front. Same back.
