April Shriner's Show in Wilmington, MA

Hey everyone! I hope all is well. I know April seems pretty distant, but it's only two months away! Anyways, I was wondering who will be attending the Shriner's Show. It's a spectacular show, where you meet some really great people, and have a blast! My last batch of cards that I obtained at the show in November was incredible! I know Nelson will be attending, but wanted to see who else was. If you can, wear your Net54 t-shirts ( I can say this because I proudly own one now, thanks Leon and Mike!). It will make it much easier to identify each other.

Best regards and happy hunting,

Wazoo

I believe it is $300 for a single table with a $50 per table discount for multiple tables. You will have to check w/Rich Altman from Hollywood Collectibles on the discount.

I usually attend on Saturday - don't expect the April show to be quite as good as the november one, but it's still worth going if you're anywhere in the area!

goodtricks 02-03-2013 08:46 AM

I plan on making it.

Shriners Show April Wilmington Ma. Altmans

I set up at the show---I have been at all the Shriners show since day one(tells you how old I am)---It is the best show in New England---plenty of dealers and auction houses there--usually around 200-250 tables---and great material vintage and new--tables are $300---I always look forward to this show---great collectors and walk in material all the time. hope to see the Net 54 collectors there---Don Hontz

I just signed up. It'll be my first time at the show, but I'll be set up, accepting consignments and yammering about cards with whomever comes by.

I'm not sure what booth I'm in, but it's right on the main aisle - come visit!

Info

I looked all over for information on this show and couldn't find it. Can someone send me a pm with details. Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for the pm. So does this show have a lot of local dealers that don't leave the NE. I am in Philly and have hit most of the NE dealers but I am wondering if there are a lot of pre war dealers that just don't leave the Boston area.

show

I will be there on Friday. Unfortunately, I can't make it Saturday. I know there is typically at net54 meetup around noon on saturday. I'm sure Scott or someone else will mention the meeting place. have fun everyone and good card hunting!

craigster93 04-08-2013 07:22 PM

The upcoming Shriner's show in April is put on by Rich Altman who, I believe, has only put on shows at this location for a couple of years. The November show is put on by the Greater Boston Sports Collectors Club, who have put on terrific shows at this venue since the 1980's. Two very different shows...only the location is the same.

aelefson 04-10-2013 07:29 PM

Hi-
I will be there Friday afternoon/evening and all day Saturday. I am definitely up for a meet up on any day. However, our typical day and time is Saturday at noon. Usually we meet by the concession area/bar. If you are at the show Saturday, please stop by! Otherwise, just yell out Net54 every 10-15 minutes and see who is around.
In terms of the show quality it is not as good as the November one but there are still excellent dealers and merchandise for sale. I only look for vintage and have yet to be disappointed with the April show since its inception.

see yall there

scooter729 04-10-2013 07:44 PM

Hey all,

Like Alan said, anyone who wants to meet up from Net54 should plan on being near the bar in the side room (where the autograph signings take place) at noon on Saturday.

Alan will usually yell out "Net 54!" a few times to get anyone's attention who is looking for our little gathering.

Hope to see folks there!

cyseymour 04-10-2013 07:52 PM

My God, if someone is going to drive nine hours to the show, then what excuse do I have not to drive thirty minutes??? So I will try to make it on Saturday...

wolterse 04-11-2013 05:26 PM

Alan, Steve and I will be there on friday afternoon. I'm sure we'll bump into you bartering with someone ;)

beachhead2 04-12-2013 07:28 PM

I was at the show this afternoon. I haven't been to the fall show so I can't compare it to that but I loved it. It's a big show. It seemed exactly the same as last year's spring show. Regrettably, I won't be there tomorrow. Have fun everyone!

Hi Nelson,

Nice to meet you and your friend today - I'm glad you had such a great day! Hope the long drive was worth it and you will consider doing it again in November!

Scott

g_vezina_c55 04-13-2013 07:26 PM

Hi scott ! Yep a great day and a great red sox game.
I will be there in november for sure and it was nice to meet you too and saw couple of your nice cards !

scooter729 04-13-2013 07:42 PM

Nelson, there is too much to do in Boston on a Saturday night for you to be on here! Go out to some bars and have a good time - the cards will still be here tomorrow!

g_vezina_c55 04-13-2013 07:57 PM

aelefson 04-15-2013 06:38 PM

It was great seeing everyone! Nelson, I am still amazed you made the long trek but it seems like it was worth it. It was also a pleasure meeting Al C (Love of the Game) and Don from Don's Cards (I bought a couple of OJs from him) as well as a couple of board lurkers. I can't wait until November!

Alan it was great taking to you at the show---You are a book of Knowledge--I did sell some nice vintage cards this past weekend---and I couldnt believe the crowd of 10 year olds for Matty Ziegler---there was a 2 hour wait for her signature and the kids were still there upon leaving the show sunday afternoon===they did buy alot of popcorn though---also nice seeing the net 54 crowd that introduced themselves===Don

g_vezina_c55 04-16-2013 10:51 AM

Yep alan verry nice to see you !

It is my favorite moment of the show ...

Me and Mr Bobby Hull in the parking lot of the auditorium ! I will keep this moment in my mind for the rest of my life.

I believe he invented the curved blade... Everyone loved the Golden Jet.

soxinseven 04-16-2013 12:10 PM

It is always a great time at Wilmington. There are a lot of great local dealers that set up. I was able to speak with Don and see regulars Alan Elefson, Erich Wolters, and Toby Peterson. The highlight of my day was a conversation with Bill Walton. I tore a tendon in my leg recently and was using a crutch to get around. Bill stopped to say hi and asked how my leg was doing!!
