Bob Costas Musial Eulogy

Watch a recording of the eulogy delivered by Bob Costas for Stan Musial. You will not be disappointed.

Costas Eulogy

It was well done and his contrast of Mantle and Musial is heartfelt

A friend told me about this last night and I looked up the link! I agree with the previous comments. If you have not seen this, you will not be disappointed!

Great Public Speaker

Bob Costas is a great public speaker.

He was receiving an honorary degree from Loyola University in Baltimore the year my niece graduated (2006). Since it wasn't a funeral, the mood wasn't at all somber and in addition to providing the obligatory pep talk he poked fun at other recent commencement speakers (like Oprah Winfrey), the Loyola men's basketball team (for their level of futility) , but mostly at his own unworthiness to be the keynote speaker at a college graduation ceremony since he never finished his own undergraduate program at Syracuse.

Many times you just want the damned speech to be over, but that day everyone sat completely riveted when he was speaking.

Stan the Man

Bob Costas not only gets it but articulates it beautifully.....

HRBAKER 01-27-2013 08:25 PM

That was an incredibly well done tribute to an incredible man.

Just finished watching the eulogy, and once again I hear my wife, "Are you crying over baseball, again?" Through tear filled eyes I choked out a, "no." :)

Bob Costas hit this one out of the park. Very fitting for one of baseball's most underrated superstars.

Leon 01-30-2013 08:53 AM

I was only going to watch a couple minutes of it. Twenty minutes later I am in the same state as many posting in this thread. Well worth the time spent.

Costas Musial Eulogy

As good a eulogy that a human being can receive.Eloquent, captured the essence of the man .The fact that Stan had previously asked Costas to deliver that on the day of the event made it all the more special for all of us.I've watched it twice and I am not done.Brings a few tears each time it is viewed and if it doesn't,you don't have a pulse.

GasHouseGang 01-30-2013 05:12 PM

Wonderful tribute. Well done, Bob.

tbob 01-30-2013 09:17 PM

Imagine Bob Costas as commissioner of baseball instead of the toad Bud Selig. To have someone who actually "gets" what baseball is all about and represents, wouldn't that be wonderful...
