Who bought the T205 Wiltse?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1911-T205-GO...-/350694758221
Interesting as the short prints seem to be printed in multiples side by side...I'd love to see additional examples. (just speculation on my part...but recall the Collins open also a side by side) Mac |
Neat card. Looks plausable to be another Wiltse. I would be careful talking all Crazy like that Mac. There are some guys that won't stand for changes to this set:p. Ted Z has the Collins MO var. I was able to confirm it at 12' nationals with the help of Ted who was nice enough to let me drag it around for a few days for comparisons. There was also a Joss side by side miscut on front. The back was not mis aligned though. Seller was in the stratosphere with price though. I think it was like 2k for the card in raw form, slight spider crease in one corner, and a spot of small paperless on the back. Described it as VG-EX- EX. I don't blame the guy since 90% of his cards were in PSA slabs or raw:D

I have a question on that card / auction. Im Still very new to collecting this t205 set, so sry if this is a bad question..
Why did that card sell for so high a price? $203 - I bought the same card PSA 2.5 last month for $49.00. Was it because it was a miscut? |
I assume it's because of the miscut...can't think of another reason for it to go so high. I'm guessing we'll hear from the buyer soon enough? Waiting for Ted or Josh to chime in.

I saw that auction and was surprised. It was miscut and it does look like wiltse was printed side by side. Several cards were printed side by side. Several were all printed top to bottom. Too bad we may never know what a sheet configuration looks like though.

Does anyone have a scan of a top/bottom miscut of the same player?
|
Not sure I have the scan anymore of the back but how about this from one of my old files...

miscut
As Dummy Taylor collector, i paid 3-5x more for miscut, no name, double name of T206 Taylor. They happen look so beautiful and different from normal ones.

Dahlen

I believe the extra card in Joshua's scan is Bill Dahlen. I was the high bidder on the ebay one that looks like it has 2 Wiltse's. The seller has shipped the card and I will post a large scan on here when I get it. |

I can't say for sure they are the same player, but based off the color it would be a fair assumption. |

My money is on Titus being the next card although Dahlen does look pretty close. http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/6995/atitus.jpghttp://img812.imageshack.us/img812/654/dahlen.jpg Any thoughts? |
Turner, I think you are right. Good eye.
Here is/was the Dahlen I was using for comparison. It has a yellow bottom-layer background. www.ebay.com/itm/350585780654 |
Not Dahlen
I was thinking the same thing, that it wasn't Dahlen. Dahlen doesn't have that distinct black line on the shoulder. I was going to look through my cards, but you beat me to it!

Could be Hummel or several other cards in the set |

i have begun "thinking" about mis cuts...,aybe about picking up some. My thoughts were, depending on how it was miscut or how the printer error looked, would be a more unique even 1 of a kind card. (which i am pretty into)
the more unique and rare is always what i liked, not always the most expensive either, as the Gaidel and the gad card #42 were only a few bucks each. |
