different price guide
hey guys
I was starting a post to talk about something that I have only heard of here. Some people list their cards and talk about spc price list this is different than beckett, which blows my mind that beckett is still printing that garbage because its not accurate lol. Anywayz I was wondering if someone had more information on the other price guide it seemed at least somewhat more accurate in the posts. Thanks Andrew |
I'm not sure what the spc price guide is. Are you maybe referring to VCP?
http://www.vintagecardprices.com/ It keeps track of the sale prices of graded vintage cards. There's also the SMR report, which is the certified PSA price index: http://www.psacard.com/store/p-47-sp...eport-smr.aspx If there's something else, I'd be interested to learn about it as well. I used to subscribe to Beckett, but stopped. If I'm looking to buy a card, it's far easier to do a search of recent auctions on Ebay to get an idea on price. |
Andrew, here's an old thread that might help you. It should be relevant to your question.

Maybe you are referring to SCD standard catalog ?
It's a great reference especially for checklists. As far as pricing goes, I use it to get a starting point and as a "relative" guide. The only true price guide IMO is combination of experience, gut feel, ebay recent sales, and VCP (I suppose). I don't do much post-war, but I expect the same logic applies to pre-war and post war. Haven't looked at a beckett in about 3 years. |
thanks for the information guys. I think its the vcp which is alot closer to reality.
thanks andrew |
