Steiner means it's real??
2 Attachment(s)
Before I start, let me say I don't have a problem with Steiner, I am not trying to say they are doing anything illegitimate, and I've never felt that their autographs were anything but true.
However, I have a bit of a problem with the statement "Steiner means it's real." To me, they have based a reputation on getting all their items first-hand; if there is a signature with their hologram, I'm supposed to believe that a Steiner rep witnessed that sig. So why is there a hologam on this ball?? Am I the only one who doesn't like this practice? I called them once years ago after seeing Mantles and Durochers with Steiner holograms, and they told me they knew they were real because they had PSA LOA's. (This one does not.) Ken |
I saw Steiner Jackie Robinson signed photo a couple of years back, and also wondered.

I see your point, sadly in this hobby that will raise eyebrows for about 10 seconds.
As an aside they may have another means of knowing it's real. |
I think they meant to say "Steiner means its real expensive"

There have been vintage items with Steiner holograms for some time -- items they clearly could not have witnessed.
It was my understanding that [at least some of] the Mantles came from Greer Johnson (Mantle's mistress). Not sure what their policy is regarding provenance on other vintage items. |
I think Steiner COAs and holograms had been duplicated for forgeries at some point. The most suspect items I see repeatedly are Ali items.
