Question about Pennzoni Displays

Hi. For the people who have bought these displays, which color looks the best in person? I am thinking of getting the cherry wood ones but there is often a discrepancy between online photos and real-life appearance.

Also, did you go with the stock 100% UV acrylic or the special one for an extra $55? I asked them about the special acrylic and they said it is for direct sunlight. Just curious if it is worth it or just a profitable gimmick.

Thanks!

I personally like the black and went with their standard front plexiglass. No real need to pay for the upgrade in UV protection unless he cards are in direct sunlight. Don't know how many cards you have but on eBay with the 36 graded display, I have gotten free shipping and it ends up being less expensive than ordering direct from the company. Also remember that PSA slabs are smaller so you can fit more cards.

As I said before, on the subject of size, SGC slabs will no fit side to side in the 36 card horizontal holder without a slight overlap if you have all SGC slabs. Another thing to keep in mind is when hanging the holder, go to Home Depot and get a different bracket to mount on the back as these can be quite heavy. The brackets you can buy there run about $15.00 and you mount one piece to the holder and one to the wall and they interlock. Would then take an army to knock it off the wall. I live in earthquake country and the 2 sawtooth things on the back could jiggle the frame off the wall is my reasoning for the super hanger.

If you have any questions, PM me and we can talk.

Bryan,

The name of the mounting bracket I was thinking of is called a French Cleat. You take the sawtooth brackets off the back of the cases and replace these with the bracket from the French cleat. Mount the wall attachment using hardware supplied and toggler snapsku drywall anchors. Place the case on wall so bracket parts interlock. You do not need to hit studs with this method of mounting the display. I just put up a shot glass display from Pennzoni and it would take a hurricane to bring it down. Very easy to mount heavy things on wall and not worry about the weight. Takes about 30 minutes to put up with all the measuring and you don't need to find studs.

No problem.

If you get the cases and want to talk, message me and we can exchange number.

I've been looking at the 50 graded card cases and see that they have one that they call a 50 card DEEP and measures 38" x 34.5" x 2 3/8th " Outside Dimension and holds cases 1.25 inches thick while the other measures 40 X 36 x 1.5" (outside) and holds cases .50 inches thick. Any thoughts or experience on the advantages of one over the other? Appreciate any advice.

The deep is probably better for SGC cards would be my guess. I have had the 30 card and 36 horizontal displays and they seem to work well so don't know is the deep cases are really necessary. I also just put up the Pennzoni shot glass display for my wife to display her miniature bears in. Seems to work well for this purpose.

I received the 50 card display from them and the groove DOES NOT fit SGC cards. However, they can rest on top of the groove. I am buying another one today and it will definitely be the deep version. Best of luck.

Bryan and Ken, really appreciate your advice. Also, shipping is less expensive on the 50 card thru their eBay store than thru their website and is free for the 30 & 36 card displays thru the eBay store.

Don't forget to buy the French cleat for hanging them. You won't regret it.

Bryan,

What color did you decide to use?

The cherry wood. I think it is a little classier than the black. It makes it look more like wood than the black one (in my opinion).
