Should restored/Alterd cards be graded and slabbed based on their alterations?

I got to thinking about how many altered or restored cards are floating around out there. And when sent to the graders, they often come back unslabbed, only to be flipped once again as all original items. Now lately, I've been getting a bit into comics and noticed that CGC will grade and encapsulate Altered or restored comics based on their visible condition and note the extent of the alterations and whether they were deem it to be professional or amateur. Also these are slabbed with different colored flips. There's a color chart on this wiki page.

Does anyone have any thoughts, about something like this as a possibility for cards?
