1913 Baseball Team Photo postcard - C. H. Wood of the "Buffalo Club" Bisons?

Help needed pls.

Picked up this team photo postcard dated 1913 and addressed to C H Wood of the Buffalo Club. Could this reference (not the photo) the Bisons?

The sender writes "Well Dad this is the team that Luther plays on and I manage. Class eh? Love Ken. " I assume that these players are part of a town team?

Even if CH Wood doesn't match up with a known Buffalo team it's interesting to me as my name is C Wood. Thanks for the help!

My guess is......

1. The "Buffalo Club" has nothing to do with Baseball but was probably a Mens Organization of some type.

2. The Baseball team is Probably Williams College and the other player probably went to Hotchkiss before entering Williams.

Ah, I think you're onto something there Rhys. I just finished scanning through all the 1913 minor league team managers and found no "Wood" listed, Ken or otherwise. I've got nothing on college teams to be able to confirm or deny, but that certainly sounds plausible.

In the photo of the 1912 Williams College baseball team below is Iron Davis (14), Bill Otis (15) who were on the 1912 New York Highlanders and Andy Coakley (17) coach here was on the 1911 Highlanders.

Tom Burr was on the 1913 Yankees and was on the 1913 Williams College team.

I had one of these a while back but never really found out much about it. Looks like the same Club though. Mike

The Buffalo Club seems to be a social club/fraternal organization founded in 1867....

While the Buffalo Athletic Club was built in 1924, though probably established in 1889?

The Buffalo Bisons Base ball Club may have had some affiliation with both of these organizations (members of both, or all). Tough to say, everything is named after "Buffaloes" in Buffalo... even their chicken wings.:D

Thanks Rhys, Lance, Don, Jason, Mike, Ty for your feedback. Much appreciated!

The Buffalo Athletic Club (the "B.A.C.") [ http://www.buffaloathletic.com/ ], as far as we know, has no relationship to the
Buffalo Club [ http://www.thebuffaloclub.org/ ], except that both have their headquarters on Delaware Avenue.
The former is a very popular gym and racket sport venue with several locations. The latter is a snooty high-society clique
too good for you to know about, so, ptthhtt, you abominable miscreants.

Western New Yorkers can tell you're not from around here if you refer to "Buffalo wings" or "chicken wings,"
although bar and restaurant menus may use those terms so as not to confuse out-of-towners.
To natives, they're just "wings."

Ed. to add: we neglected to point out that the current B.A.C. is a newer organization, unrelated to the old B.A.C.
Ed. to also add: out-of-town wings are clueless.
